Poor design-can't find replacement partsFeb 21, 2006 Like a previous reviewer, the drive coupler that connects the motor to the blades went out of our machine after 5 pitchers of smoothies. This is a very poor designed product. I have been all over the internet and can't find a replacement part. If they are going to make an inferior part, they should at least make replacements available. I do not recommmend this appliance for anyone who is serious about their smoothies!!!

Not nearly as good as it seemsJan 07, 2006 I got this product as a gift. Besides the aforementioned problem with totally dismantling it to clean it, in itself an arduous task, there is a major design flaw with this product that should be brought to your attention.
The drive 'coupler' that connects the motor unit to the blender 'pitcher' is made of silicone, a silicone that is too soft and will seperate from the metal part that attaches to the motor. One episode trying to crush ice cubes will damage the drive, which at first will just squeal, sounding like you are stepping on a cats tail as you blend. After awhile it spins freely and you don't get any smoothies.
I got here because I am trying to buy a replacement part, without any luck....so BUYER BEWARE.

Very Pleased!Aug 07, 2005 I am very pleased with my Sunbeam Smoothie Maker. I got it just in time for my grandchildren's summer visit. Ice Cream smoothies were the first request for desert almost every night. I,also enjoy frut smoothies. I would recommend it to anyone. It works much better than a blender.

cool pleasure without the guiltJul 28, 2005 The Sunbeam is all it says it is and more. It is powerful.
You can make a plethora of smoothies with all kinds of fruits or veggies. You can make ice cream, all natural, and healthy only limited by your imagination. If you are like me you always have more then you can consume. I found you could freeze the left overs, and it is very much like a sorbet, or italian ice.

Sunbeam 4200 Smoothie MakerJul 23, 2005 Assembling and disassembling this piece of equipment would discourage a person from ever using this item. It is far too complicated and has too many pieces that have to be washed each time it is used and then put back together again. One can expect to spend about 30 minutes to disassemble and reassemble the unit while following the assembly guide. In addition to that drawback, there isn't anything that should be placed in a dishwasher, so it has to be hand-washed and hand dried. An osterizer would be a much simpler and better choice!!!
