It is a wonderful machine! Worth the money! Why spend the [money] on a cheap character slush machine when you can buy an electric one that is easy to use for the same price? Easy to use and makes a nice, easy snack! The only thing that drives us nuts is our daughter wants a snow cone all the time now! =o)

Better than Hawai IceJan 22, 2003
We started out with an Hawaiian Ice unit which lasted a few months and died...The Rival Arctic Ice has been great and is much easier for children to use. The blade has an adjustment knob on the front of the unit which controls how much ice comes out. This unit is simple to use and for $20, it is a great deal.

I don't know if I got a defective unit, but my experience is vastly different than the other reviewer's. I could barely get the machine to produce any shavings at all.

The best ice maker everDec 27, 2002
This is a great product. I bought it for my son for Christmas. We have made so many ice treats (snow cones, slushees, frozen yogurt & milk shakes)in just 3 days. You can put in ice cube trays (i.e yogurt, juice, soda), freeze it then put in maker, plug it in and press and hold button. It grinds the ice so fine it is a delight to eat with a spoon or straw. You can also just use ice from the ice maker and add flavor, which is sold separately by [a local store]. It is even safe for my 8 year old to use because the blade is not exposed. I was going to buy the slushee machine which is sold at toy stores, but it looked [poorly made] and the crank handle would have been much harder to use. For [a moderate price] it is well worth the price. Easy to use and extremely durable. I found you need to hold the cup up close to the spout so the ice does not spray onto the counter.

This item is great; it is wonderful for your kids and really easy to use.... I love it and I keep my kid enjoying the ice snow cones. These cones are very popular where we are from; and now we can enjoy them in our home. THANKS RIVAL!!!!!
