1Misleading advertisingAug 17, 2008
We were disappointed in this blender and returned it. The blender is not, as the description says, "brushed chrome" - it's plastic. The "stainless" accents are plastic, as well. The only chrome or stainless is on the faceplate, where the embossed logo appears. So, the construction is quite flimsy, especially for a high use item from a well-known brand.
In addition, the motor seemed to strain on the lowest setting, and gave off an unpleasant odor. Finally, the shape and size are cumbersome and not easy to clean or store in the fridge.
Overall, we were surprised at the low quality from a well-known brand, and returned it immediately.

2I'm finished with this thingMay 07, 2008
I bought this blender/smoothie maker about a year and a half ago. Although i do like the spout feature, the problems have been many: the first thing i noticed was that even after the spout is turned off it leaks, so i either had to put something under it or risk a big mess. Second, the spout has broken not once, but TWICE. I have ordered two replacements from cuisinart at 14 dollars plus shipping each. About 6 months ago i started having a lot of problems with leakage in the base. apparently the cheap plastic in the base cracked when i unscrewed it to wash it. I was unaware of this until last weekend when i made a protein shake that leaked all over my counter. Previously there had been liquid on the base after blending, but i thought it was just leftover water coming out from when it was cleaned. My husband threw out his protein shake after discovering several bits of black plastic. I examined the base with the jar off and found the thing cracked badly in several places. I contemplated buying a replacement base at 30 dollars plus shipping, but realized that part plus the other two equaled the price i originally paid for the thing, and I would only be prolonging the inevitable until something else broke. I expected better than this from cuisinart.

3Broke in 6 months, but still mostly like it.Mar 02, 2008
I'm kind of torn on whether to give this a thumbs up or not. On the plus side, it is very powerful and appeared to be well constructed and designed. The unit doesn't even slow down when blending ice. I like the silicone O-ring between the jar and base. The tap is very handy. On the minus side: the tap can trap (unblended) stuff (requiring a bleed and 2nd blend); it kind of bugs me that there isn't any good way to thoroughly clean the inside of the tap; and I now have a slow leak dribbling down the drive shaft of the blade. I haven't decided whether to replace the base of the jar (fortunately it is available directly from Cuisinart). I'm kind of disappointed because I'm blending the identical drink that my previous cheapo blender had no problems with for 6 years.

1Broken in less than 6 monthsJan 13, 2008
I didn't buy from Amazon. I blend smoothies every morning and this little fella just couldn't keep up. I took it apart and found that plastic pieces had broken and screws were stripped out, guess it couldn't take daily wear and tear. Worked well for a while.

3Some Chrome and some assembly requiredDec 30, 2007
This product does what it is supposed to do, however, an assembly problem has caused some of these (two sent to me) to be sent without the motor screwed down to the base. The screws were bouncing around the inside of the base and the motor clunked back and forth when you tilted the base. When the second unit arrived like the first - I opened it up, found the problem and screwed in the four screws so works like a charm now. The only chrome is the control faceplate, the rest is gray plastic but it still works well making smoothies. Last comment - Amazon was fantastic dealing with the return.
